This position is responsible for supporting the Supervisors in planning and directing the work of staff by maintaining inventory for annual work, entering budgets, analyzing department performance, leading change, and directing contractors.

Responsibilities:

  • Enter department budget into business system and track actual data on contracts, projects and work orders to the budget.
  • Ensure inventory and purchases support annual work and optimize purchasing strategies across the department.
  • Oversee field work carried out by contractors: maintain contracts, ensure purchase orders are in place, materials and field activities are available, and coordinate work in multiple territories.
  • Support the department as an expert in Metering business systems and represent Metering on corporate business system initiatives.
  • Support meter expiry and other meter and equipment renewal programs by establishing processes to ensure the meters and equipment are identified accurately and work is assigned in a manner to support efficient field work
  • Support change management for new specifications in metering equipment
  • Develop processes and documents for use by staff for tasks in metering systems
  • Manage department wide internal training and events, and train and assess staff
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other work groups and stakeholders, including customer groups, contractors, internal customers, and service support staff.
  • Run and analyze reports to identify, develop and implement improvements.
  • Lead change for department improvements and introduction of new systems.
  • Responsible for a working knowledge and understanding of and make all efforts reasonable to work in accordance with and ensuring work is done in compliance with the appropriate safety legislation, EUSR rules, Alectra policies and procedures and safe work practices that apply to the work while adhering to the internal responsibility system. Reports any unsafe conditions or observed unsafe work practices using Alectra procedures.

Education & Specialized Knowledge

  • Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in a technical or business discipline
  • Certificate in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology an asset
  • Certified Engineering Technologist designation an asset
  • Certified Associate in Project Management designation an asset
  • Knowledge of the Measurement Canada Act and Regulations, OEB regulations, ESA regulatory legislation, and other codes, rules and regulations related to electricity metering an asset
  • Knowledge of metering concepts and supporting technologies, and industry practices an asset
  • Knowledge of Financial tracking, budgeting and reporting an asset

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a utility or business production environment
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with business production, inventory or purchasing systems
  • Utility experience an asset
  • Experience in training, mentoring staff and assessing in business systems an asset

  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with staff, management and other departments to achieve positive outcomes for the company
  • Demonstrated leadership ability analyzing complex systems and developing improvements and performance metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, oversee multiple tasks, and quickly manage rapid changes in priorities and resources
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new business systems quickly and mentor others
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimum supervision in a high-volume environment with heavy production and deadline requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects
  • Demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships based on trust, integrity and respect
  • Demonstrated ability to prevent, manage and resolve conflicts
  • Demonstrated ability to positively lead change
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Word & Excel & Outlook)
  • Demonstrated ability in Alectra systems and applications an asset
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Class “G” driver’s license
