Electrical Engineering Technologist

 

Wasaga Resource Services Inc. (WRSI) is located in Wasaga Beach, ON and currently searching for a highly motivated, results- oriented individual for the position of Electrical Engineering Technologist. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the successful applicant will be responsible for electrical designs in compliance with applicable standards and regulations, including customer projects and relocations of distribution system infrastructure, as well as the continual administration, maintenance, technical support and troubleshooting of the Geographical Information System (GIS), SCADA, AutoCAD, databases and other systems and technologies, while supporting the safe and reliable construction, operation and maintenance of the distribution system. You will provide mapping support functions, electrical distribution system inspections, managing third-party attachments, and will prepare/maintain records, logs, maps, and control points for the operation of the electrical distribution system. The position will ensure that all work is completed according to the OEB, IESO, ESA, IHSA and policies and procedures set out by WRSI.

Qualifications

  • Education: Must have completed a three-year Electrical Technologist Diploma and acquired a CET designation and registered member of OACETT. Electrical Engineering degree registered with PEO is an asset.
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years job related experience in the industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge: Working knowledge of electrical distribution. Must be proficient with typical office productivity software applications (i.e. MS Office) and AutoCad. Proficiency with SPIDAcalc is considered an asset. Must have a working knowledge of contract law, and applicable industry construction standards and practises.
  • Skills: Must be detail oriented, work well in teams and be able to discuss technical details with confidence. Must keep excellent records and be adept at constructively interacting (both verbal and written) with other employees. Must have a good understanding of the electrical distribution business and have the technical experience to gauge and appreciate project scope and scale.
  • Other: Must possess a valid Class G Driver’s Licence and an acceptable driver’s abstract. (A driver's licence and an ability to drive are required to carry out the essential duties of the position).

A competitive wage and benefit package will be offered to the successful candidate. This will be a full-time non-union position. Current hours of work are from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. The successful applicant must be available to assist with after hour emergencies as required.
