JOB POSTING (MATERNITY LEAVE) – PAYROLL CLERK

UNIONISED POSITION WITH PWU CUPE LOCAL 1000

 

Halton Hills Hydro Inc. is a community focused electric distribution utility servicing the Town of Halton Hills. We are currently seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual to fill the Temporary position of Payroll Clerk. This position reports to the Controller and the applicant will have demonstrated the following qualifications, which are essential to this position:

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years payroll experience, with demonstrated knowledge of the full payroll process within a unionised environment;
  • In depth knowledge and experience in the full payroll cycle from time sheets, job costing, statutory compliance to T4’s and year end processing;
  • Strong attention to detail, high degree of accuracy and organisation, as well as the ability to meet strict timelines while working with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to exercise a high level of professionalism and discretion with confidential information;
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others, develop successful relationships and resolve issues;
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to identify and implement process improvements;
  • Strong skills and experiences with Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains.
  • Experience working within an electric utility environment and/or familiar with OMERS pension will be considered an asset;
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) certificate will be considered an asset;
  • Working knowledge of related legislation including Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code and privacy legislation;

DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Accurately prepare and process weekly payroll for Halton Hills Hydro Inc. and all affiliates;
  • Prepare, reconcile and remit all statutory payroll deductions (CPP, EI, Taxes);
  • Prepare, reconcile and remit all employee deductions including OMERS pension, WSIB, EHT, Union Dues, and Group Benefits;
  • Ensure processing of appropriate deductions, remittances and reporting requirements for deductions and benefits as required by legislation, collective agreements & company policies are met;
  • Prepare monthly payroll journal entries and accruals;
  • Prepare various payroll reports including sick and vacation, overtime, taxable benefits etc.;
  • Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts in timely manner;
  • Reconcile pension deductions and prepare annual OMERS Form 119;
  • Reconcile payroll source deductions for T4 purposes and prepare T4’s for Halton Hills Hydro Inc. and all affiliates;
  • Maintain and update the payroll module of the ERP system as it relates to payroll taxes and deductions;
  • Prepare payroll audit working papers and liaison with auditors;
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for Halton Hills Hydro Inc.
