An exciting and challenging opportunity is available for a results-oriented individual to be part of a customer-focused energy distribution corporation serving over 24,500 customers in fifteen communities within Grey, Bruce, Huron and Wellington Counties. Westario Powers’ office is located in the Municipality of Brockton, an area that provides everything you need to enjoy the best lifestyle available. 

This senior management position reports to the VP of Corporate Services and key responsibilities include: 

  • Work with hiring managers to plan the hiring processes, recruit, and select candidates.
  • Onboard new employees.
  • Ensure company's compliance with all employment laws, including ESA, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Common Law, and others.
  • Ensure a Safe and Healthy work environment supporting H&S programs and initiatives.
  • Review and implement HR policies and procedures.
  • Record and support the employees' employment timeline that include approve vacations, handle hiring processes, terminations, legal questions and issues, solve payroll inquires, and others.
  • Administer benefits and pension plan.
  • Support and administer a complex unionized payroll system
  • Supports audit inquiries and resolve escalated staff queries
  • Provides day-to-day advice and feedback to leaders to confirm compliance with collective agreements, company policies and legislated requirements (Employment Insurance Act, Employment Standards Act and Wages Act).
  • Other duties as assigned 

This position requires the incumbent to have a University or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Commerce, Social Sciences or other related field from an accredited educational facility. Experience in a relevant industry would be an asset. Strong management and leadership skills, combined with excellent communication skills would be an asset. 

Experience interpreting collective agreements, advanced Microsoft skills and knowledge of HR policies, processes and systems required. If you are a self-motivated person of action, integrity and commitment, Westario Power Inc. invites you to apply for this position.
