Oshawa Power maintains 1000 km of overhead and underground distribution lines within a 150 km2 service territory, operated at 44 and 13.8 kV, supplied by 9 distribution and 3 transmission substations. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in project execution and delivery to support all business goals and objectives. Collaboration will be at the heart of this role, as the PM will be a collaborative partner to project stakeholders and cross-functional teams across the Oshawa Group of Companies to support the PMO in managing a diverse portfolio of projects. This role will also require relying on data analytics to make informed decisions and utilizing project management tools to support internal processes. The Project Manager will need to utilize change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions and communicate effectively to support the adoption of new processes and/or systems. This position offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in managing projects and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

 

As the successful applicant, you will have the opportunity to:

PMO:

  • Support with initiation, planning, execution, and delivery of projects that support the organization’s operational plans;
  • Monitor project progress, track milestones, and ensure timely completion of tasks;
  • Adhere to project governance framework to ensure we have strong project structure for effective risk management and mitigation;
  • Support the development and maintenance of all project documentation and tools including project plans, registers, charters, schedules and reports;
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by utilizing lessons learned and providing feedback to PMO for enhancing project management processes within the organization;
  • Assist the PMO in the development of operational plans for all departments of the organization to understand project scope, resourcing requirements, and outcomes that support overall organizational strategy ;

Collaboration:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather project requirements and incorporate into project plans to streamline project success;
  • Ability to build strong relationships to work effectively with diverse teams across various business lines;
  • Effectively communicate with relevant project stakeholders on status updates related to budget, schedules, changes, risks, design, quality, and resource management;

Problem Solving & Decision Making:

  • Utilize PM tools and processes to identify issues and make informed decisions to assist with project direction and success;
  • Identify potential risks, evaluate mitigation strategies, and communicate to relevant stakeholders to overcome obstacles throughout the project lifecycle;

 

What you have to offer:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant post secondary education focusing on Project Management, Business administration and/or a relevant field;
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Project Management experience;
  • PMP Certification would be considered an asset;
  • Understanding of Project Management methodologies and being able to utilize them for project delivery;
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Project);
  • Ability to thrive within dynamic Project Management environments by adapting to new challenges and opportunities. Leverage problem-solving skills and maintain a proactive approach to anticipating and addressing potential project risks and changes;
  • Showcase strong leadership skills by guiding teams through transitions, fostering collaborations, and ensuring alignment with overall project goals ;
  • Support PMO’s portfolio of projects with diverse scopes spanning multiple internal departments (IT, Finance, Engineering, Customer Experience, etc);
  • Demonstrate the ability to coordinate and integrate technical requirements; align departmental goals with project success, while building strong partnerships for the PMO across the organization;
  • Detail oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality project outcomes, including meticulous planning, monitoring, and thorough project documentation to ensure all project deliverables meet or exceed quality standards;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively;
  • Possess capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to project plans and allocating resources efficiently to ensure timely completion of project milestones;
  • Support the Project Management Office (PMO) by adhering to established governance, contributing to process improvements and ensuring consistency in project execution throughout the organization and various business lines;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely to various stakeholders. Able to facilitate meetings and discussions to ensure effective alignment among all project stakeholders;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and keep positive stakeholder relationships. Demonstrates professionalism and courtesy in all interactions, fostering a respectful and collaborative work environment.
