Vault Maintenance Technical Specialist

You have a OACETT certification as an electrical technician or technologist and a minimum of three years’ experience or you are a journeyperson with 10 years experience. You are experienced with using power quality analyzers, power loggers, EMF meters, radio, TV interference locating equipment, meggaring, oscilloscopes and high voltage test equipment. 

You have strong computer skills and effective time management skills. You have demonstrated your ability to exercise sound judgement and have excellent problem solving skills. People describe you as customer focused, self-motivated and enjoys working in a team environment. Your ability adapt to new technologies and excellent analytical, diagnostic and trouble shooting skills will make you a valuable contributor to this team.

What would I be responsible for?  

Reporting to the Supervisor, System Operations you would be responsible for coordinating all vault maintenance shutdowns with customers, contractors and Hydro Ottawa staff and establish oneself as a front-line representative for all customer needs involving shutdowns, maintenance and information of customer owned vaults and equipment in commercial buildings. You will establish and maintain an effective working relationship with all customers, internal divisions of Hydro Ottawa, and regulatory agencies such as ESA. You will also be responsible for maintaining databases of tools and equipment inventory and required maintenance of approximately 2000 high voltage electrical vaults, switchgear and customer substations on an ongoing basis. 

The salary range for this position is $54,953.60 to $84,531.20, and will be commensurate with experience.  This position has been evaluated as a Grade 5 position and the terms and conditions of employment are governed by the collective agreement between Hydro Ottawa Limited and IBEW Local 636.
