Program Manager - AMI

As the Program Manager - Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), you will work under the direction of the Director, IT Infrastructure, or designate, and with the support of your team, you will successfully manage, coordinate and deliver the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) program and relevant technology projects.

JOB DUTIES

Program and Project Management

  • Manage complex work programs throughout the full project lifecycle, including scope, cost, schedule, and quality (AMI-relevant technologies, including RF communication networks, AMI technology systems deployments, upgrades and enhancements).
  • Define roles and responsibilities, providing overall program and project governance and oversight.
  • Collect and report project information status to Executives, Steering Committee and stakeholders, and liaise with them as appropriate. Manage dependencies and interfaces between projects and work collaboratively with other program/project managers in the organization.
  • Develop project documentation, including justification, sourcing, evaluation and contract documents, business cases, project plan, project charter and other relevant project documents.
  • Oversee, collaborate and manage technology vendors, partners and contractors.
  • Responsible for data integrity through troubleshooting and resolution of operational and metering issues.
  • Oversee the testing and validation of firmware upgrades for meters and network equipment.
  • Oversee monitoring and proactive assessment of AMI communications to ensure the efficient operation of the systems.
  • Ensure timely communications with peer groups participating in meter-to-cash processes to ensure that AMI Operations activities are understood, operational, and optimized.
  • Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Act rules and regulations, the IHSA's Electrical Utility Safety Rules, London Hydro safe work practices and procedures, and all components of London Hydro's health and safety program.

 

Leadership and Strategy

  • Supervise and provide technical and administrative direction, coaching, and support to a team of Business Systems Analysts responsible for Sensus RNI, MV90, ODS, MD4U etc.
  • Act as a key participant in the strategy development for Advanced Metering Infrastructure technology and associated business processes.
  • Develop and monitor pertinent KPIs to the management of AMI systems, data availability/accuracy, and meter-to-cash processes.

 

Financial Management

  • Create and manage budgets, estimates, variances and forecasts related to program and related projects.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses of projects and programs, and ensure maintenance of benefit realizations.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED 

Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a related Engineering field, Computer Science or equivalent PLUS PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification and/or Program Management Certification.

 

LICENSES OR SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • More than 5 years of project or program management experience in engineering and IT technology development and Implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of advanced metering infrastructure principles and technologies. Previous experience with Sensus RNI, MV90, ODS, MD4U considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage and execute initiatives related to business process reengineering and optimization, strategy, business case, technology roadmap development, etc.
  • More than 5 years of leadership, management and/or supervisory experience. Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective cross-functional relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • More than 5 years of vendor management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills. Zealous learner.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Strong financial acumen. Understanding of project budgets, cost estimation, and financial tracking.
