What You Will do:

The role of the SCADA Technologist will be responsible for the SCADA system and Transformer Stations. Maintenance and setup of the SCADA system, devices, communications, research and proposal of new equipment ideas and training on systems and devices. Operating, maintenance, and troubleshooting aspects of transformer station equipment and building, reclosers, capacitors and voltage regulators. This position will also contribute to a positive workplace culture by fostering collaboration, maintaining a positive attitude, supporting our customers, and contributing to a respectful and inclusive environment.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency in regular and ongoing SCADA device maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination with technical experts to resolve issues.
  • Ability to research new methods of solving technical problems, provide new technology research, and drive innovation.
  • Experience in operating, testing, and inspecting Transformer Stations, including various components like high voltage motorized switches, metering instrument transformers, switchgear, breakers, power transformers, and more
  • Aptitude for investigating mechanical and electrical breakdowns or other sources of trouble with respect to Transformer Stations equipment and distribution equipment.
  • Strong engagement skills with contractors for troubleshooting and repair of stations.
  • Ability to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

 

What You Will Bring:

  • 3-year Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma and OACETT certification.
  • 1-2 years of electrical utility experience is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multiple stakeholder groups and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Strong analytical abilities, problem solving and project management skills, along with a strong foundation in mathematics and electrical engineering concepts.
  • Familiarity with applications and engineering tools such as Synergi, UWPC, AutoCAD, Survalent SCADA, AcSELerator, EnerVista, Intellilink, and Microsoft Office is an asset.
  • A valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license with an insurable driving record is required.
