SUBSTATION ELECTRICIAN / OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN

Canadian Niagara Power Inc. is an electric distribution company that serves approximately 25,000 customers in Fort Erie and Port Colborne.  Canadian Niagara Power Inc. is a subsidiary of FortisOntario Inc. which is headquartered in Fort Erie and has operations in electricity transmission and distribution located in Fort Erie, Port Colborne, Cornwall, Gananoque and the district of Algoma.  Canadian Niagara Power Inc. currently has an exciting and challenging opportunity working out of our Fort Erie location for a:

SUBSTATION ELECTRICIAN / OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician License and/or Journeyman Substation Electrician certificate; Master Electrician License would be an asset
• A minimum of seven (7) years related work experience as a Journeyman
• Completion of an Electrical Engineering Program from an accredited post-secondary institution would be an asset
• Proven experience of efficient teamwork and self-initiative
• Strong knowledge of relevant health, safety and environmental legislation as well as Electrical Safety  Code regulations
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
• Maintain a valid class “G” Ontario Driver’s license with a clean driving abstract; “DZ” would be an asset

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform installation, inspection and repair work on electrical equipment of extreme variety and complexity found in substations
• Perform installation work on complicated control circuits
• Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting and electrical analytical ability with a strong understanding of electrical utility equipment layout and substation structures
• Perform work with the highest regard and integrity for relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, Electrical Safety Code regulations as well as Company policies and procedures
• Other duties as deemed necessary by the Company
