DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS ENGINEERING INTERN

 

Oshawa PUC Networks Inc., a subsidiary of Oshawa Power and Utilities Corporation, is the local distribution company serving more than 50,000 customers in the City of Oshawa, located 45 minutes east of Toronto on the shores of Lake Ontario.

 

Reporting to the Director, Asset Management & New Initiatives, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to a variety of engineering projects, including:  FIT and microFIT Programs, Smart Grid implementation, reliability indices calculations and analysis as per OEB guidelines, load forecasting and analysis, ESA Regulation 22/04, materials specifications and approvals, power system modeling and calculations and protection and coordination settings.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Engineering Intern or eligible to register in PEO' Engineering Intern (EIT) Program.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the electric utility or related engineering field.
  • Understanding of Ontario Power Authority (OPA) rules and regulations about FIT, microFIT programs.
  • Understanding of Ontario Energy Board rules and regulations related to distribution system engineering.
  • Thorough knowledge of distribution system material specifications
  • Thorough understanding of various industry standards, such as; IEEE, CSA, ESA.
  • Thorough understanding of Ontario Regulation 22/04.
  • Familiarity with distribution system modeling and analysis software; such as CYME or equivalent.
  • Knowledge with various distributed generation technology will be an asset.
  • Superior project management and technical  ability; proficient with relevant computer software.
  • Effective oral, written, presentation and report writing skills.
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, respect in the workplace and continued improvement of processes and procedures.
