President / Chief Executive Officer (CEO) 

 

Wellington North Power Inc. (WNP), a small, progressive electricity distribution company in Wellington County providing safe, reliable electricity to over 4,000 consumers in the urban areas of Mount Forest, Arthur and Holstein, is seeking an energetic, hands-on and responsive individual for the role of President / CEO. 

Wellington North Power Inc. has been serving the community for over 100 years and is committed to providing outstanding customer service. We are pleased to offer residential and business customers convenient office hours and 24-hour emergency service.

Mission: Wellington North Power Inc. shall provide its customers with the most cost-effective delivery of electricity safely, reliably and efficiently. This will be done while providing superior customer service and promoting customer education and green initiatives within its service area.

Position Summary:

Informed by Wellington North Power’s (WNP) mission and vision statements and service values the President / CEO plays a critical role in the success of the organization by supporting and carrying out the direction of the Board of Directors. This is achieved through leadership, oversight and management of the overall affairs of the Corporation including operational planning and management, regulatory and customer service planning and management, human resources planning and management, financial planning and management, health and safety management and all regulatory and legal requirements of the Corporation. 

Key accountabilities include:

  • Setting the strategic direction of the Corporation jointly with the Board of Directors.
  • Driving the strategic directions in alignment with the Corporation’s vision, mission and values.
  • Oversight of all, Operational, Regulatory / Legal, Financial, Human Resources, Communications, and Information Technology activities in carrying out WNPs objectives of:
    • managing a safe and reliable distribution system in an efficient and cost-effective manner,
    • providing outstanding customer service,
    • continuing to increase shareholder value, and
    • meeting all regulatory objectives. 

Work is executed in office, and the incumbent should be comfortable visiting with key customers (including industrial customers) and have a willingness and capacity to pitch in operationally within their area of expertise and competence from time to time. 

You are:

  • A strategic thinker, with the ability to link long range visions and concepts to daily work.
  • A self-motivated individual and you hold yourself and others accountable.
  • A compelling leader, whose integrity and vision inspires and empowers others to action.
  • A skilled communicator, proficient in public speaking and negotiating.
  • Adept at project management, highly analytical and pay attention to detail.
  • Customer service oriented, with a high level of interpersonal understanding and skill.
  • Politically astute and possess organizational awareness and commitment, which assists you in delivering positive results.
  • Able to attend public and private facilities in compliance with Ontario’s vaccine mandates, and individual stakeholders’ policies. 

You have:

  • A degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering or and/or related combination of education, training and experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a senior management role / executive role in a regulatory industry and/or utility.
  • A track record of exemplary leadership and organizational management, executing and adapting the strategic direction to changing circumstances.
  • Experience with Board Relations and Administration, including ensuring the Board is trained and effective in its corporate governance role / responsibilities, and with enhancing shareholder value and reporting in mind.
  • Skill in Financial Management and Administration.
  • Clear criminal record – the position has access to significant sensitive, financial and confidential information.
  • A valid Class “G” driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to various member facilities and public meeting locations within Ontario.
  • Flexibility in work hours / extended hours when necessary.
