Highlights of the job 

We have an opportunity for a permanent Manager, Operations Network & Cyber Security, ON Region, working out of either our Aylmer/London or Collingwood locations in Ontario. There is an opportunity to enroll in EPCORs ‘Where we Work Program’ which allows some flexibility between working from home and the office.  Living within a reasonable driving distance to either of the Ontario offices is necessary. 

The Manager of Operations Network & Cyber Security will be responsible for managing, supervising, and configuring the operational technology (OT) networks in Ontario and ensuring compliance with all other cyber security requirements for our Ontario assets, as well as reporting to the Director of Operations, ON Region. This include managing the OT systems, operational communications networks, SCADA systems, and other integrated systems with related infrastructure that are used by EPCOR Ontario.  

What you’d be responsible for 

In the Manager, Operations Network & Cyber Security, ON Region role your key accountabilities may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Ensuring cybersecurity systems are optimally set up, monitored and maintained to protect the SCADA/operational computing and communications infrastructure from malicious attacks and/or unintended changes.
  • Developing cyber security policies, standards, procedures, training and compliance audit responses in meeting any requirements either governed by our regulator or industrial clients.
  • Identifying the necessary budget requirements for the provision of OT systems for the Ontario region.
  • Identifying the necessary budget requirements for the provision of tools, software, hardware, documentation and other items necessary to maintain a cyber security posture that aligns with EPCOR’s requirements and the Ontario cyber security framework.
  • Ensuring that the networking infrastructure associated with control systems is configured for reliability and high performance, meeting the operational requirements of the production systems.
  • Applying expert knowledge to support evolving integration between Operational Technology systems and Information Technology (IT) systems. 

What’s required to be successful 

You will have the following qualifications, experience and behaviours: 

  • Completion of a Technical Degree or Diploma focusing on Information Technology or Operational Technology from a recognized post-secondary educational institute.
    • A combination of experience and training in a related field may be considered.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of Information/Operational technology experience.
    • with control system operation event analysis and investigation.
    • with testing and commissioning procedures.
    • configuring Windows server environments.
  • Knowledge of NIST Cyber Security framework and NERC CIP would be an asset
  • Knowledge of securing/supporting OMS/DMS, SCADA or other real-time production systems would be an asset
  • Ability to lead initiatives independently, work collaboratively and apply good judgement with limited data.
  • Strong safety leadership and management skills, including strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Provisioning, maintaining and troubleshooting enterprise/IT/OT environments
  • Configuring routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and security appliances. 

In addition to the above, as the successful candidate these are considered valuable assets to have:

 5+ years of experience in utility operations (electricity, natural gas or water).

  • Experience configuring OT field devices such as RTUs and PLCs.
  • Experience programming with Python and Powershell.

Hours of work: 80 hours biweekly Monday to Friday

Location: This position is located in Aylmer/London or Collingwood Ontario. Our ideal candidate will reside near/in one of the two listed Ontario EPCOR locations.
