We currently have a vacancy in our Fleet department for the following position:

 

VEHICLE MECHANIC (“A” LICENCE)

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Applicants must possess an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma.
  • Must possess a Commercial Vehicle Wheel Service and Truck and Coach Technician (310T) Certificates.
  • Must have a good knowledge of Fleet Maintenance operations and Preventative Maintenance Schedules and processes.
  • Must be an active member and maintain a membership in good standing of the Ontario College of Trades.
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid and unrestricted class A/Z license.
  • Must be a reliable self-starter and be able to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Must possess good computer skills.
  • Must be able to physically perform strenuous and repetitive work in a safe manner including but not limited to heavy lifting, various levels of standing, climbing, sitting & crouching as required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
  • Must have a full complement of mechanic tools.
  • Automotive Service Technician (310S), Certification in CPR and First Aid would be considered an asset.
  • Must be willing to obtain an Automotive Service Technician (310S) and Certified Utility Fleet Equipment Mechanic Certification through Canadian Utility Fleet Council Certification Program. 

DUTIES: 

Reporting to the Fleet Supervisor, the Vehicle Mechanic role will have a focus on safety and quality of repairs. 

  • Perform all aspects of motor vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair pertaining to a fleet including Light Duty to Heavy Duty Trucks, hydraulic repairs on aerial devices and digger derricks as well as various types of utility equipment.
  • Perform diagnostic, preventative maintenance, repairs, safety inspections, and other related maintenance duties.
  • Road testing and delivery of vehicles/trailers as required.
  • Record job information on work orders as required.
  • Repair and/or replace all tire sizes as required.
  • Carry out vehicle repairs under direction of the Fleet Foreman.
  • Assist any mechanic in repair work as required.
  • Wash, clean and fuel vehicles when necessary.
  • A/C repair and diagnostics.
  • Accurately and legibly record work being performed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work place.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
