Chapleau Hydro is a Local Distribution Company serving the community of Chapleau, Ontario.  The utility operates two 115-4.16 kV transformers for approximately 60% of its 1200 customers.  The balance of customers are serviced from a 25 kV system owned by Hydro One.  The utility has 30 km of overhead and underground line, with more than 700 poles and 250 transformers.  Chapleau Hydro employs 5 individuals and is entirely owned by the Municipality of Chapleau.

Chapleau has a stable and diverse economy based on forestry, mining, tourism and as a base for CP Rail.  The community offers a hospital, elementary and secondary schools in both French and English, golf course and recreation center.

Duties:

• Work with Board of Directors to advance the mandate of the Utility
• Ensure the Utility operates in a responsible corporate environment with due regard to the environmental footprint and public and employee safety
• Supervise operations to ensure compliance, production efficiency, accuracy, quality, service and the cost-effective management of resources
• Lead operational capital planning
• Understand and manage Regulatory requirements from the OEB and IESO
• Produce and submit to IESO monthly reporting
• Produce and submit to OEB annual Incentive Rate-setting Mechanism (IRM) & Reporting and Record Keeping Requirements (RRR)
• Oversee production and submission of Cost of Service (COS) as required
• Compile the yearly Scorecard
• Manage and maintain annual budget, financial statements
• Supervise customer, billing and financial requirements – billing, payroll, A/P, A/R, disconnects, reconnects, outage reporting, customer service indices

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of management and supervisory experience
• Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business Administration or Finance
• Knowledge and experience in the electricity and power sectors
• Familiarity with financial statements, budgets and asset management planning
• Experience with OEB electricity regulations

Remuneration:

• Salary including a benefit package, will be in accordance with the existing salary and benefits scale and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
