We are presently inviting applications for the Full-Time position of

 STOREKEEPER/UTILITY PERSON

Reporting to the Facility Operations and Risk Mitigation and Purchasing Supervisor, the successful applicant for this position will be responsible for the receipt, issuing, shipping and warehousing of the physical inventory; maintaining of related records; maintaining the upkeep of the building and storage facilities, as directed by the Supervisor; ability and knowledge to assist line crews as and when required.

Job Duties

  • Ability to utilize computerized inventory tracking systems including GP, MIS and Microsoft Office programs (excel, word, etc)
  • Using available inventory computer software, input kits and other material issued to jobs and material returned from jobs
  • Responsible for weekly inventory requisitions to maintain minimum stock levels
  • Responsible for unloading delivery trucks and issuing/tracking/loading inventory to EPL sub- contractors including wire reels and transformers
  • Responsible for wire reel measurements and maintaining designated wire reel spreadsheet to track movement and use of wire
  • Responsible for issuing and labeling all transformers with appropriate nomenclatures and transferring all nomenclatures to designated Job Distribution Maps/Blueprints and maintaining designated transformer spreadsheet for same.
  • Responsible for year-end inventory physical counts
  • Collection of Distribution System Data for mapping and data base systems, etc – as required
  • Distribution System nomenclature and other signs installed/replaced, etc
  • Other minor Distribution System maintenance tasks – as required
  • Responsible for sending live line tools (grounds, rubber hose coverup, etc), hand tools, etc. for annual testing and/or repair.  As well, will be responsible to produce requisition list for tools that require purchase or replacement.
  • Be familiar with emergency lowering procedures on bucket trucks
  • Assist line crews as ground person/labourer during emergency conditions – as required
  • Drive and operate R.B.D. trucks
  • Perform yard and building maintenance at all service centres, and other Essex Power property as required.
  • Drive both single and double bucket trucks, dump truck, chipper, forklift
  • Operate and maintain chain saws
  • Work with a variety of hand tools and power equipment
  • Perform heavy manual labour as required
  • Help and assist in maintaining basic office and building maintenance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum grade 12 secondary school diploma
  • Highly organized and self-directed, and able to work without constant direct supervision
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally, and complete minor reports, forms, etc
  • Experience in Inventory Issue, Control, and Organization
  • Must be computer literate, have the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally as well as have the ability to operate communication equipment.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and staff.
  • Must be qualified to assist line crews where needed, within the capacity of this job.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate all equipment and tools safely
  • Must have basic knowledge and ability for building and yard maintenance
  • Must be able to do emergency lowering procedure for both single and double buckets
  • Be able to work indoors and outdoors, all seasons
  • Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
  • Ability to withstand frequent standing, sitting, walking, carrying, pushing, pulling and lifting as well as occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching and climbing
  • Successful completion of R.B.D./Truck driving course
  • Successful completion of Forklift Operating certification
  • Posses a valid G Driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Possess a valid DZ Driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract or ability to obtain DZ driver’s license within 6 months of hire (subject to MTO centres availability)
  • Must possess an up-to-date CPR and First Aid Training Certificate.
  • Other duty related courses as required
