DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately carry out facility locates from available facility records using locating instrumentation
  • Accurately document the locations of the facilities through visible identification with paint, stakes, flags or other means
  • Accurately and completely document the locations of the facilities on appropriate forms and provide a copy to party requesting the locates
  • Update and maintain Elexicon's systems and/or operating records as required for changes based on as found facilities through locating activities
  • Perform field checking of streetlights and joint use poles if requested.
  • Assist other locators (including locate service providers) and other field staff if they have issues on site or in the planning of work
  • Utilize online portals for locate tickets to audit the completeness of third-party locate tickets and ensure accuracy against the GIS
  • Conduct site visits against third-party locate tickets as deemed required
  • Pad-mounted equipment and enclosure upkeep (renumber, check nomenclature etc.)
  • Occasionally locate fibre optic cables
  • Other duties as assigned

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to carry out facility locates from available facility records using locating instrumentation
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and customer relations skills

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Possess a utility locating certificate
  • 1 to 2 years relevant experience in utility locating
  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems
  • Possess a valid Ontario Class G Drivers' license with a good driving record
