Powerline Technician

Permanent Position

 

Wellington North Power Inc. has an immediate opening for a Powerline Technician.  For this position, competency in construction, and maintenance of WNPs distribution system as well as patrols, inspections, and emergency repairs of unplanned outages is required.

This is a workplace-based full-time permanent position working 40 hours per week. 

Key qualifications include:

  • Certification as an Ontario Journeyperson Powerline Technician or as a 3rd or 4th Year apprentice.
  • A valid Ontario’s Driver’s License in good standing with Class “DZ”.
  • Must be available to perform regular on-call duty and emergency call outs.
  • Self-motivated, detail orientated and organized. 

Job duties and competencies:

  • Construct and maintain various apparatus as per manufacturers and engineering standards.
  • Be able to operate bucket trucks, radial boon derricks, underground fault locating equipment, cable tracing equipment, hydraulic equipment and all other tools used in line maintenance and construction. 
  • Performance of all work within health and safety regulations, company standards, industry standards and applicable regulatory codes.
