ABOUT THE ROLE

The Project Manager - Community Growth is accountable for project delivery for new developments from the initial concept to project close. This includes, but is not limited to – administration, stakeholder management and communications, design and/or design management, third-party coordination, project scheduling, construction coordination, contract and invoice management, cost and document control, and approvals management.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage community growth projects from initial concept to project completion
  • Lead the design and coordination for projects, ensuring adherence to Oakville Hydro Standards and Specifications
  • Manage the offer to connect process for community growth projects
  • Prepare capital budget proposals and business cases as required
  • Develop processes and report on status, progress, and key performance indicators for all projects
  • Coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders, during different stages of project delivery to ensure project success
  • Engage and consult with regional and municipal authorities on community growth and planning initiatives and
  • Develop and manage project timelines and stakeholder expectations
  • Support grid planning as the community growth subject matter expert
  • Review third-party material and equipment proposals for new developments, and report recommendations to senior engineers for approvals
  • Monitor service installations and develop statistical reports and invoicing to manage subdivision construction progress
  • Review consultant and contractor invoices, evaluate payment milestones and administer purchase orders

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree or College diploma in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Power Systems, or related field
  • Is licensed as a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario, or a Certified Engineering Technologist
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a distribution utility environment, previous experience with customer connections and offer to connect projects is considered an asset
  • Proven supervisory experience is an asset
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a high-performance, evolving, fast paced environment
  • Must be able to manage customers inquiries and requests in a timely, and professional manner
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid Ontario Class ‘G’ Driver’s License with an excellent driving record

WORK EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in electrical distribution engineering system design, planning, budgeting, and construction contract administration
