Lead Electric Meter Technician

 

A great opportunity with London Hydro for a qualified individual, such as an Electrical or Electronic Technician, to lead by example. 

Under the direction of the Electric Meter Supervisor, or designate, you will assign work and provide work direction, as well as perform the duties of an Electric Meter Technician, repairing, installing and testing all types of revenue meters and associated equipment. As a Lead Electric Meter Technician, you will be responsible for work quality and productivity, and for the care and condition of the tools, materials and equipment being used.

 

Specifically, as a Lead Electric Meter Technician, you will: 

    • Demonstrate leadership behaviour on a consistent day-to-day basis.
    • Work on energized cable and/or equipment of up to 750 volts.
    • Work in close proximity to high-voltage cable and/or equipment.
    • Evaluate and resolve CIS issues related to the Electric Meter Department.
    • Collaborate with customers, contractors and other departments to evaluate, organize and arrange completion of job procedures.
    • Inspect electrical installations performed by outside contractors.
    • Use various pieces of test equipment.
    • Verify, organize and classify incoming and outgoing meters, equipment and materials.
    • Perform analysis of equipment needs such as reports of non-registering and inaccurate meters, unmetered situations or on-site requirements.
    • Initiate processes and maintain records as defined in the Quality Management System procedures.
    • Create service orders for daily and yearly maintenance work.
    • Purchase required materials for the Department.
    • Maintain Department records and reports.
    • Assist in the training of apprentices and learners.
    • Perform other job-related duties.
    • Adhere to all Occupational Health & Safety Act rules and regulations, the E&USA rule book, London Hydro work practices and London Hydro’s Health & Safety Management System. 

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS 

The qualified Lead Electric Meter Technician we seek will be able to meet the following requirements: 

    • Graduation from a community college in an Electrical or Electronic Technician program or equivalent.
    • Valid Class G driver's licence. 
    • Manufacturer and EDA Metering Courses.
    • Journeyperson Metering Certificate. 
    • At least 4 years’ electric meter experience.
    • Aerial Devices Qualifications.
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
