TECHNICAL SERVICES SUPERVISOR

Canadian Niagara Power Inc. (CNPI), located in beautiful Fort Erie, is looking for a motivated and organized problem-solver with a positive attitude, and passion for learning and cultivating relationships. The Technical Services Supervisor is an instrumental position, responsible for the growth and integration of operational functions. This position is part of the CNP operations team and has six (6) direct reports.

Key functions of this role:

  • Provide direction, support, and leadership in the areas of substation construction and maintenance, metering, SCADA, protection & control, as well as control center operations.
  • Responsible for technical oversight in the areas of regulatory reporting & various technical projects and studies.
  • Support the standardization of design equipment, work procedures, and safety polices within areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain revenue and energy accuracy on all our metering installations.
  • Manage wholesale metering with IESO, oversee the MSP contract for all FortisOntario companies.
  • Coordinate contract tenders and bids for new construction projects and ongoing maintenance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain budgets and all financial requirements
  • Facilitate safety meetings and perform work observations and inspections in compliance with corporate Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve efficiency in overall service reliability and outage management solutions.
  • Provide employee development and foster positive working relations.
  • Respond when scheduled in the rotation for Supervisor on-call duties and be available for emergency situations.

What makes you a successful candidate?

  • Certified Engineering Technologist in the Province of Ontario or equivalent utility trades working experience.
  • Minimum ten (10) years utility related experience, including a minimum of five (5) years leadership experience
  • Exposure and understanding in the areas of SCADA, protection, control, communication, and substation.
  • Understanding of revenue metering.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electric utility standards and practices with respect to health, safety, and environmental concerns.
  • Thorough understanding of computer applications, such as the Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
  • Formal certification in IHSA Utility Work Protection Code, Electrical utilities safety rules, and all applicable health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal relations including the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Ability to think critically and analytically with strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Unrelenting commitment and passion to safety, ethics, and continuous improvement.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Ontario ā€œGā€ license with a clean driving abstract - travel within Ontario will be required.
  • Must be and remain fully vaccinated.
