POWERLINE TECHNICIAN APPRENTICE
ABOUT THIS ROLE
Burlington Hydro Inc. is currently seeking an Apprentice Powerline Technician. Reporting to the Powerline Supervisor, you will work with a crew responsible for the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution systems at voltages of up to 27.6 kV. Responsibilities will be aligned to the trainee’s experience level, and duties may include maintaining tools and equipment, troubleshooting repairs and restoring system outages. The apprentice will work towards position objectives at ever-increasing levels of responsibility relative to training and experience. As the incumbent's individual skill level improves, they will work towards the following objectives based on the Supervisor’s direction.
The successful candidate must enroll and work towards completing the MEARIE Powerline Technician certification program by satisfying the hours and training requirements for certification. Once certified, the incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and construction of overhead and underground distribution lines. Candidates will be required to comply and be familiar with Company work practices and standards, operating rules, and regulations, as well as all pertinent OHSA regulations. This is a full-time unionized position.
