IT Infrastructure Analyst (Temporary 12-month)

Reporting to the Manager IT Infrastructure, this position is responsible for the management of computer systems, networks, and IT infrastructure. The IT Infrastructure Analyst will direct and coordinate operations related activities that overlap with other IT application services and provide informal oversight and coaching to junior staff. Note that this is a temporary 12-month opportunity.

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

  • Advanced troubleshooting, problem solving and analytical skills to quickly diagnose and resolve hardware and network events
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders
  • Advanced organization and technical skills to support independent management and timely completion of work plan assignments and priorities
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office
  • Ability to maintain documentation in compliance with IT documentation standards and cyber security requirements
  • Ability to learn and recommend new technologies and find solutions to business problems.
  • Customer service orientation with a strong sense of accountability and ownership
  • Advanced knowledge of operating systems, virtual machines, mail filters, firewall configuration, VPN communications, telecommunications, computer resource management, back-up and recovery methodologies and desktop technical support
  • Advanced knowledge of network/system security, intrusion prevention and detection
  • Intermediate knowledge of data storage, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery best practices
  • Intermedial configuration of active directory management with an understanding of group policy design and configuration


Experience/Education     

  • 3 - 5 years of related experience
  • Valid Class “G” Driver’s License
  • Post Secondary Education in Computer Science, Computer Application Programming, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Major (Primary) Responsibilities

  • Provision of Expert Advice: Assist and provide technical expertise to supervisors, IT peers, end users, key vendors and external subject matter experts for all aspects of the corporate hardware and software infrastructure. Counsel and confer with peers and supervisor to advise on any unusual items that may have an effect on the department or the company
  • Administration: Administer corporate user profiles/accounts, their corresponding data access permissions and network access protocols and related access permissions. Complete all application and technical documentation in compliance with ITS standards

 

  • Technical: Procure, install, and maintain IT infrastructure hardware and software including all servers, PC/laptops, network equipment/components and their corresponding configurations, telecommunications equipment, the email system, and operations related software. Complete upgrades as required and maintain licence compliance.  Order, setup and maintain printers and smart phones. Troubleshoot end user support issues and keep current with relevant advancements in technology.  Responsible for the corporate computing environment infrastructure design, implementation and support based on capacity planning and the delivery of high availability IT resources

 

  • Process: Design back up/recovery processes and procedures for infrastructure support and maintain all necessary reporting and documentation. Assist in the development, implementation, maintenance and management of the Corporate Disaster Recovery procedures and the Corporate Cyber Security Program.  Ensure procedures comply with corporate governance requirements including documentation, change management procedures and audits

 

  • Safety: Support Corporate Occupational Health & Safety initiatives by incorporating safe work practices into daily work routine and reporting any unsafe conditions or work practices to supervisor
