As the Substation Electrician, your duties will include:

• Under the direction of the department leadership team and the Lead Hand, perform maintenance, repairs, and switching and testing of substations & electrical system equipment.
• Maintain a stable and reliable supply of power to the company’s customers.
• Participate in the design, installation and maintenance of the electric SCADA system, Intelligent Electronic Devices and related communication components.
• Adhere to all applicable policies, procedures, regulations and standards.
• Assist in the development of job planning, work protection and monitoring in accordance with OHSA and corporate health and safety policies.

Qualifications:

• A post-secondary Electrical Engineering Technology Program or equivalent (combination of education and experience acquired through 3-5 years working in an electrical industry or electrical utility field).
• Current hold, or the ability to obtain a MEARIE Journeyman Substation Electrician Certification.
• Hold and maintain a valid Ontario driver’s license.
• Sound working knowledge of electrical power systems, controls and related components.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Must be functional in the use of computers and associated software.
• Sound knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
• Ability to respond in a reasonable time to after-hour callouts when required.
• Out-of-town work assignments may be required.
