Position Summary

Reporting to the Managing Director - EnerFORGE, the Manager, Strategic Development will identify and evaluate strategic business opportunities and work with stakeholders to evaluate business line feasibility, financial models, and operational requirements to deliver, operational excellence, system reliability, and long-term strategic planning. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the infrastructure and energy industry, coupled with a proven track record of driving business growth through strategic market assessments and commercial development initiatives.

As the successful applicant, you will have the opportunity to be involved with:

  • Strategic Business Development
    • Lead the development and execution of business development strategies focused on expanding our footprint within the energy sector, civil infrastructure and services based projects;
    • Drive the end-to-end business development process, from prospecting and lead generation to proposal development, negotiation, and contract closure;
    • Work cross functionally to evaluate feasibility and path to execution for new opportunities;
    • Evaluate and monitor new and existing business initiatives to identify focus areas and opportunity for growth;
    • Provide regular progress reports to a variety of stakeholders including executive and Board;
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry, to enhance our market presence and drive collaboration opportunities;
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, project management office, and finance, to ensure alignment of business development efforts with organizational goals and objectives; 
  • Business Analysis and Support
    • Provide business inputs for analysis and support, including financial modeling, feasibility assessments, and risk analysis, to inform strategic decision-making and business line prioritization;
    • Review financial models against results for existing projects/business lines to inform business cases for new opportunities, project reporting, and identification of areas for productivity improvement within current project portfolio;
    • Function as intermediary between Finance and Operations with respect to sales projections and resources for budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.;
    • Lead thorough market assessments and analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and potential risks, providing actionable insights to inform decision-making processes;
  • Project Delivery and Sales Oversight
    • Compile a detailed information package on sales and specifications for a smooth handover to the project delivery team;
    • Maintain customer engagement advising on project delivery and on-operations, ensuring customer satisfaction with timelines, budgets, quality standards, and addressing any issues or challenges that may arise;
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize business processes, enhance efficiency, and maximize project outcomes;

 

What You Have To Offer

  • University degree with a focus on Business Administration, Business/Data Analysis, Strategic Business Development or related fields;
  • A minimum of four (5) years of hands-on experience in Strategic Business Development or Business Improvement;
  • Management of CRM and sales process to develop and present on a sales strategy and ongoing sales progress;
  • Management of a team to drive the sales of assets including wind and solar, civil and infrastructure projects and services;
  • Experience in working through partnerships or investments in corporations to accelerate strategic presence;
  • Understanding of the operations, acquisition and/or asset management of renewable energy, civil and infrastructure, and services lines including district energy operations;
  • Critical thinker with analytical skills to interpret information/data and propose possible solutions to customer needs;
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to frequently changing priorities;
  • Experience in utilizing financial and/or operational analysis and data analytics to drive strategic development;
  • Ability to utilize various tools for data analytics and effective business decision making;
  • Experience in participating in client engagement meetings with a focus on customer solutions and business development;
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management cycles and processes;
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to exercise patience, tact, diplomacy and discretion;
  • Ability to work with and present to varying seniority levels, including staff, managers and external partners;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Must have valid ‘G’ driving license in the province of Ontario;
