Manager, Strategic Sourcing and Logistics will lead the day-to-day procurement operations with a focus on optimizing cost-efficiency, sustainability, and innovation in the procurement of goods and services.  This role is instrumental in providing services to OEC's group of diverse companies.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the development and execution of sustainable procurement strategies and practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across the Enterprise
  • Drive the adoption of digital tools and technologies to streamline procurement processes and enhance data-driven decision-making
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across various businesses to identify, fulfill and support procurement needs, ensuring alignment with objectives and requirements
  • Lead the development and execution of RFQ/RFPs, supporting bid review and decision making for vendor selection
  • Accountable for the governance of the Purchase Order Process, ensuring adherence to procedures and policies
  • Develop and implement contract strategies, lead negotiation of contract terms and support contract lifecycle management
  • Oversee warehouse operations, managing both people and materials to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Accountable for cost-effective and timely procurement of infrastructure materials required to deliver on initiatives including capital programs while optimizing inventory levels
  • Manage and optimize supplier performance through regular reviews, audits, and applicable sustainability programs
  • Collaborate with the sustainability team to integrate environmental and social, governance and Indigenous (ESGI) criteria into procurement practices, contributing to the Enterprise’s commitment towards sustainability
  • Oversee procurement risk management, including the identification, assessment, and mitigation of supply chain risks
  • Foster a culture of Lead, Innovate and commitment of excellence and continuous improvement within the procurement and warehousing departments, encouraging innovation and the adoption of best practices
  • Engage in strategic partnerships with key suppliers to enhance innovation, cost savings, and sustainability initiatives
  • Ensure fair market value for services and compliance with all regulatory requirements related to procurement activities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning
  • Work in compliance with all health and safety and environmental legislation including, but not limited to, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Policies and Procedures

 

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with a strong preference for experience in the energy, or infrastructure sectors
  • 5-7 years proven leadership experience which includes managing teams and overseeing operational lines of business
  • Demonstrated success in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management
  • Experience implementing sustainable procurement practices and driving operational efficiencies is an asset
  • Expertise in procurement leadership, preferably in energy, utilities, or infrastructure services
  • Strong negotiation abilities
  • Proven strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities
  • Proficient knowledge of sustainable procurement practices
  • Valid Ontario Class ‘G’ Driver’s Licence with an excellent driving record
