What You Will Do:

The Field Supervisor, North Operations will be responsible for leading and coordinating the daily activities of employees and contractors working on the installation, connection, and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution systems in the City of Cambridge and Township of North Dumfries.

  • You'll ensure smooth operations and quick resolutions to any equipment issues.
  • Provide strong safety leadership by guiding crews to conduct work under safe conditions, develop effective job plans that identify and address potential hazards.
  • Oversee project planning by reviewing estimates, bids, and proposals, managing contractors, and ensuring that the team is well-prepared, trained, and informed.
  • Manage project logistics by scheduling work based on priority, handling material management, and maintaining clear communication with customers.
  • Ensure successful project delivery by bringing capital projects to completion on time and within budget, while keeping all relevant departments informed.
  • Facilitate meetings such as sub-foreperson and safety sessions, either by leading or assisting with the organization.
  • Liaise with control room and customer service for coordination of related planned and unplanned outages.
  • Seek out innovation by exploring new technologies, tools, and processes that could enhance operations within the Field Operations department.
  • Exercise independent judgment in making decisions that impact project outcomes and team success.
  • Lead by example by fostering a positive workplace culture, providing coaching and support, and promoting collaboration and growth.
  • Support employee development by completing performance reviews, reviewing Apprentice Logbooks for signoff, and ensuring annual objectives are met on time.

 

What You Will Bring:

  • A minimum of seven years of varied experience as a certified Journeyperson Powerline Technician.
  • Advanced knowledge of distribution systems standards and specifications, line construction and maintenance, standards and specifications, design review and development, and contractor management.
  • Detail oriented and have exceptional problem solving, planning, project management, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and computer skills.
  • Certified Journeyperson Powerline Technician.
  • Red Seal designation is an asset.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid class “DZ” driver’s license, in good standing.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory and legislative environment including Standards Manuals, E&USA Rule Book, IHSA Safe Practice Guides, Utility Work Protection Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act as they pertain to the work.
  • Knowledge of health and safety management systems and policies.
