LINEPERSON JOURNEYPERSON/APPRENTICE

 

 “Powering community well-being”

 

We are posting for up to two Linepersons, Journeyperson(s)/Apprentice(s).  Interested candidates are required to clearly outline their interest and qualifications in a cover letter and resume. The successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated company values, in particular respect in the workplace, ethics, and working safely.

  • High regard for personal and public safety in a team setting.

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and solid understanding of basic electric circuit theory, combined with practical electrical experience.

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.

  • Journeyperson Powerline Technician certificate – MEARIE or completed Level 2 Mearie Powerline Technician Apprentice training

  • Valid driver’s licence in good standing.  Applicant must also be prepared to obtain a Class ‘AZ’ licence within one year and maintain it.

  • Ability to work with confidence both aloft and within confined spaces.

  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position including regular standby duties and response to emergency call-outs within thirty minutes.

  • Power Line Technician diploma, or electrical technician/technologist certificate would be a definite asset. 

The successful candidate will be assigned to various crews throughout the orientation/ apprenticeship period and, with training, will be expected to work on and operate high voltage power distribution equipment (up to 44kV).
