Powerline Technician

Rideau St. Lawrence Distribution Inc. is the local electricity distributor for approximately 6,000 customers located in Prescott, Cardinal, Iroquois, Morrisburg, Westport and Williamsburg.   Our location offers the best of both worlds – outdoor recreation and proximity to major city amenities, just one hour south of Ottawa and two hours west of Montreal.

Qualifications

  • Powerline Technician Certificate of Qualification or Interprovincial Red Seal Certification (or equivalent)
  • Valid Class DZ or AZ-Restricted Driver’s License in good standing
  • Grade 12 High School Diploma
  • Master electrician license with the ESA (considered an asset)

Primary Duties & Responsibilities for the position include but not limited to:

  • Follow all industry regulations and safety standards (IHSA, OHSA).
  • Ensure personal safety and team safety in a high-risk electrical environment by understanding and abiding to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting of underground and overhead electrical distribution systems in a safe and timely manner.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical drawings.
  • Conduct pre-operational safety checks on vehicles, tools and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Provides rotational on-call support for after-hours emergencies, ensuring minimal service disruption.
  • Work in physically demanding conditions, including lifting, stretching, pulling, climbing, working at heights, and exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • Demonstrate effective organizational skills to document accurate records of materials used on jobs and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Demonstrate Effective communication and collaboration skills when interacting with customers and colleagues.
