Manager, Wholesale Metering, Compliance & Lab Services (Non-Union)

Full-time, 35 hours/ week, Hybrid

Are you a dedicated leader with a strong background in electrical engineering and metering services?

The Manager, Wholesale Metering, Compliance & Lab Services is responsible for ensuring compliance and managing Alectra's wholesale meters and metering services. This role involves delivering high-quality services related to meter assets, reporting, revenue protection, metering services, and departmental quality assurance programs. Project management experience is considered a very strong asset.

What you’ll do

Strategic Planning and Improvement

  • Plan and implement continuous improvements focused on increasing productivity and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide technical direction regarding the installation, maintenance, and strategic planning of metering technologies.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Ensure federal and provincial compliance with revenue metering products and services to maintain Electrical Distributors’ license.
  • Maintain wholesale compliance risk matrices and provide corporate reporting on risks.
  • Lead and oversee Reverification and Seal Extension Programs, applying for and reporting on dispensation requests as needed.

Technical Leadership and Support

  • Oversee the resolution of Distributed Generation Metering issues.
  • Support the development of technical documents, including drawings and work plans.
  • Review, recommend, and manage software to track and report wholesale compliance and assets.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to represent revenue metering services, customer connections, and associated products/services.
  • Work closely with Customer Experience and Network Operations teams on metering, billing, and power quality issues.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Wholesale and Metering Services teams through coaching, development, and performance management.
  • Manage department projects and key initiatives to ensure quality and timely completion within budget.

Policy and Process Improvement

  • Research, recommend, and implement new or enhanced policies, procedures, and processes to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and Health & Safety policies, procedures, and standards.

Other Responsibilities

  • Manage the Revenue Protection Program related to metering.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support operational objectives

Who you are

Education & Technical Knowledge

  • Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma (3 Year), Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with OACETT.
  • Professional Engineer’s (P.Eng.) Licence is an asset.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and governmental requirements, including Measurement Canada, IESO, OEB, ESA regulation legislation, codes, rules, and regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of OHSA, E&USA rule book, and associated safety regulations.
  • Strong understanding of electrical metering systems, principles, practices, electrical distribution systems, safety standards, and protection codes.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in a unionized utility environment is an asset.

  • Strong ability to lead change and engage, develop, and motivate teams.
  • Strong planning skills with the ability to assess the impact of decisions.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills, with the ability to organize and convey information compellingly.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple projects and initiatives within established timelines.
  • Strong conflict negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and resolve difficult situations.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Class “G” driver’s license.
