Reporting to the Director, Grid Operations & Emergency Management, this role is responsible for managing and maintaining Elexicon’s distribution asset information repository, including the Geographic Information System (GIS). The incumbent will be responsible for leading a team of professional and technical unionized staff, ensuring operational excellence and alignment with organizational objectives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and enhance the current system of asset tracking and management to support day-to-day operations and future integration of advanced tools and technologies.
  • Develop and enforce GIS data standards and best practices to ensure data accuracy and long-term asset reliability in compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements, while meeting timelines.
  • Develop and maintain familiarity with regulatory and legislative utility data related requirements.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and field personnel to maintain up to date information on asset location, condition, specifications and utilization enabling optimal assets re-deployed to bring most value to Elexicon and provide accurate visibility on our assets.
  • Maintains close relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maintain awareness of industry advancements.
  • Suggest, improve, and streamline, asset-related workflows and processes including integration of asset records with other enterprise systems.
  • Contributes to corporate initiatives to improve the processes in an effective and pragmatic manner and actively promotes quality and safety in all operational aspects to improve reliability.
  • Lead evaluations and develop initiatives to ensure alignment of operational processes
  • Mentor and develop the team while promoting an inclusive and high-performing culture
  • Promotion of a strong safety culture through participation in safety meetings, inspections and training which includes Elexicon’s Health and Safety Policies.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Establish and monitor KPI’s and metrics aligned with strategic objectives to drive operational performance.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFULL 

  • Understanding of electrical distribution systems, electrical utility construction practices and Standards including utility easements.
  • An understanding of ArcGIS, Field Maps, Hexagon, Esri, AutoCAD, Oracle, database structuring and SAP
  • A solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and Word, is required.
  • Previous experience in a role requiring high degree of attention to detail is required.
  • A strong communicator with proven ability to effectively engage and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategic problem-solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a requirement.
  • Possess and maintains a valid Ontario Driver’s License

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  • OACETT certification in Electrical Technology or Engineering degree is an asset.
  • Experience in a supervisory role preferred
