Vice President, Finance

 

Due to an upcoming retirement, Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) Hydro has an opening for a VP Finance with a start date of November 14, 2016.  Reporting to the President and a member of the three person senior management team, the VP Finance will play a critical role in the ongoing success of NOTL Hydro. 

NOTL Hydro is the regulated electricity distributor for the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake serving 9,000 residential and commercial customers.  In addition to having the lowest rates in the Niagara region, NOTL Hydro strives to provide excellent customer service, to develop and maintain an electrical distribution system that can meet the changing needs of our customers and to provide a fair return to our municipal owner. 

The key responsibility of this position will be the management of the regulatory requirements of NOTL Hydro including:  preparing cost of service applications (2018 filing), managing all required regulatory filings through-out the year, monitoring all regulatory changes and developing and maintaining relationships with key staff at the Ontario Energy Board. 

Other responsibilities include:

  • Part of the senior management team participating in monthly Board meetings

  • Overseeing the two person finance staff

  • Monthly and year-end financial reporting including managing the annual financial audit and other audits including by the regulator

  • Preparing the annual budget

  • Assisting in the implementation of electricity rate changes

  • Cash management, insurance, human resources, financial controls, etc. 

The key qualification will be the ability to become a member of this 16 person team where experience managing multiple responsibilities and working with other staff to achieve our common goals are more important than any particular skill. 

Other qualifications include:

  • Experience in a non-traditional financial role or dealing with regulators

  • A CPA designation is preferred but not a requirement

  • Minimum 10 years in a management position

  • Experience with general ledger and complex billing systems
