Casual Opportunities - Meter Technicians - Thunder Bay & Timmins


Rodan Energy is always looking for top talent to add to our casual Meter Technician pool. We currently have casual opportunities in Thunder Bay and Timmins. These positions are available as needed and will require some local travel.  Ideally suited to retired Ontario Hydro or Hydro One employees living in the area. 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will be responsible for installing and maintaining metering and other energy management systems. 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical services in the areas of electrical systems, metering, power systems and energy management services
    • Install, test, and commission electrical wiring
    • Complete regular maintenance and auditing
    • Prepare and design technical proposals
    • Manage projects and trouble resolution
    • Perform design, configuration, installation, and on-site configuration and maintenance of metering, SCADA and energy management systems, including hardware, software, communications and end-user training
    • Enforce safe work procedures are followed at all times
    • Maintain client communications, safety and work documentation
    • Ensure Rodan meets compliance and reporting requirements of federal, provincial and local regulations 

Qualifications:

    • Post-secondary education in a related technical field (e.g. electrical engineering, electrical technician/technologist) or other relevant work experience with a continued focus on updating your skills

    • Completed or working towards Journeyperson Meter Technician Certification

    • Background in electrical power distribution, metering, protection and control or electrical systems

    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively complete tasks

    • Strong attention to detail

    • Demonstrated time management skills

    • Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external clients 

    •  Excellent written and verbal communications skills

    • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team

    • A valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License, driver’s insurance, an excellent driving record and use of own vehicle

    • Knowledge of and experience with computer software such as Microsoft Office, Visio, ION Enterprise

    • AutoCAD experience is an asset

    • Own Personal Protective Equipment is an asset, i.e. safety boots, hard hat

    • First Aid & CPR certificates and knowledge of EUSA and the OHSA are assets
