Powerline Technician (Journeyperson)
Location: Hamilton, ON (GTA-based work)

DDP Technology specializes in Live CO₂ dry ice blast cleaning and the inspection and maintenance of high-voltage electrical equipment. CO₂ dry ice cleaning is rapidly becoming the preferred method across industrial, commercial, utility, and environmental sectors, and DDP is at the forefront of this innovation.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Field Supervisor, the Powerline Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe, quality-driven work environment while working as part of a crew to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and construction of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construct, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain overhead and underground electrical distribution systems up to and including 6 kV
  • Perform live line rubber glove work on energized overhead and underground systems up to 6 kV
  • Erect poles and associated power line structures
  • Build, repair, and operate underground cables and equipment
  • Conduct job planning and participate in daily tailboard meetings
  • Establish safe work zones, including traffic control measures
  • Test and troubleshoot electrical circuits
  • Utilize UWPC to establish hold-offs and work permits
  • Operate vehicles and equipment safely (bucket trucks, radial boom derricks, generators)
  • Perform visual inspections and maintenance of high-voltage electrical equipment
  • Collect and document field data, identify hazards, and report non-compliance issues
  • Perform Live CO₂ blast cleaning of high-voltage electrical equipment
  • Assist with training and mentoring Apprentice Powerline Technicians
  • Assume Lead Powerline Technician responsibilities when required
  • Work at heights up to 35 meters using approved fall arrest systems
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements

  • Journeyperson Powerline Technician / Lineperson Certification (Red Seal required)
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License in good standing (AZ or DZ preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of EUSR Safety Rules, OHSA, ESA requirements, and applicable legislation
  • Proven commitment to personal and public safety
  • Physically capable of heavy lifting, climbing, confined space work, and working at heights in all weather conditions
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude with basic computer skills for reporting and documentation
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to respond to emergencies and shifting priorities
  • Willing and able to report daily to the Hamilton office/shop
  • Current criminal record check and acceptable driver’s abstract
  • Certifications in First Aid, Working at Heights, Confined Space, and UWPC are considered assets
