ERTH (Holdings) Inc., a subsidiary of ERTH Corporation, is currently welcoming applicants to the position of Metering Technologist/Apprentice within our Metering Services division.  This position is responsible for performing quality work within the meter shop and other related metering tasks both inside and outside. This is an in-person position, located in Ingersoll, ON, however must be willing to work in the field as required.  Some overnight travel may be required. 

Starting Rate: $ 33.43 progressing to $47.75/HR 

Position Summary

This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic team and diversified program providing a wide variety of service offerings to utilities, retail and industrial customers in the areas of:

  • Metering services, including the preparation, testing and calibration of various meter types
  • Compliance with regulations (internal processes, Measurement Canada, and IESO)
  • Meter changes, troubleshooting, and verification of installations and services
  • ISO and S-A-01 compliance, including adherence to quality manual policies and procedures, participation in ISO audits, involvement in the Quality Management Team (QMT), and assistance with MRQ administration. 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, seal and sign certificates for electricity meters and perform duties related to the maintenance of the AMV program that are in conformance with Measurement Canada (MC) standards as per the quality management system that has been established for the AMV program.
  • Respond to and resolve customer complaints relating to metering and meter accuracy issues and power quality issues, maintain applicable documents and records as required.
  • Participate in program, product and field audits by regulatory bodies for the AMV and MSP programs.
  • Install, remove, and maintain metering systems, including troubleshooting, cross phase, accuracy analysis and communication systems.
  • Assist with the design, planning, coordination, operation and maintenance of metering systems as per Measurement Canada, ESA, OEB, IESO and other legislative requirements.
  • Interact with customers regarding installations, maintenance and disconnections, ensuring fulfillment of contract or work order instructions.
  • Register, monitor and respond to issues regarding MSP-related meter installations with the IESO. 

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Technologist Diploma or equivalent education/experience in an Electrical Discipline
  • Journeyperson meter technician designation preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and practical applications
  • At least one years’ experience in metering or a related field
  • Experience working in an ISO-certified environment beneficial
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License – must be willing work out of town as required
