North Bay Hydro Distribution Limited (NBHDL) strives to provide high levels of customer satisfaction and reliable electrical service within the communities of North Bay, Espanola, Massey, and Webbwood. The Espanola Operations Centre is seeking a qualified Powerline Maintainer. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the position is responsible for all facets of a utility distribution system, including overhead and underground systems, metering, and work with voltages up to and including 44kV.

The Powerline Maintainer will be primarily responsible for:

  • Promote overall efficient, effective, and safe deployment of services and equipment to ensure and maintain operations;
  • Install, maintain, repair, and replace electrical components and related equipment;
  • Provide technical guidance to contractors in regard to requirements for electrical installation;
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, guidelines, procedures, regulations, and standards;
  • Conduct a variety of activities related to customer service in a positive and professional manner;
  • Coordinates and interacts with external agencies and authorities to organize and carry out work activities; and
  • Obtain and retain all required licenses and certificates for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Power Lineman Certification licensed to work in Ontario;
  • Completion of a post-secondary Powerline Technician program or equivalent preferred;
  • Sound working knowledge of electrical systems and related components;
  • Must hold and maintain a valid DZ Ontario driver’s license;
  • Ability to work independently and take direction;
  • Ability to safely operate mechanical and electronic equipment;
  • Good oral and written communication skills to maintain logs and complete reports, and deliver training;
  • Strong knowledge of related legislation, codes, standards and practices, including IHSA Electrical and Utility Safety Rules and Safe Practice guides;
  • Ability to operate computerized systems and a working knowledge of MS Office suite; and
  • Ability to respond in a reasonable time to after-hours and emergency callouts.

Hourly Rate: $48.02
