Wellington North Power Inc. (WNP) is seeking a Powerline Technician to join our team, to fill a current vacancy. WNP is a growing utility company that proudly serves more than 4,500 customers in Mount Forest, Arthur and Holstein. What You’ll Do

As a Powerline Technician, you’ll help construct, operate, and maintain WNP’s electrical distribution system. Your work will include:

  • Constructing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground distribution infrastructure and related apparatus.
  • Safely working on energized distribution from 4,160V to 44,000V.
  • Conducting system patrols and inspections and identifying required maintenance or repairs.
  • Responding to unplanned outages and completing emergency repairs.
  • Operating bucket trucks, radial boom derricks, underground locating and fault locating equipment, chainsaws, hydraulic equipment, and other line construction and maintenance tools.
  • Locating underground hydro plant.
  • Completing vegetation management and tree trimming around energized conductors.
  • Working outdoors year-round, both aloft and on the ground.
  • Performing all work in accordance with applicable health and safety legislation, WNP requirements, industry standards, and regulatory codes.

 What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical skills with sound judgment, teamwork, and a commitment to working safely.

You’ll need:

  • Certification as a Red Seal Journeyperson Powerline Technician (434A).
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license in good standing, with a minimum DZ classification.
  • Experience and training in the following, are considered assets: metering, engineering technology, underground systems, fault locating, and vegetation management.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in WNP’s regular on-call rotation and respond to emergencies within 30 minutes while on call.
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to safely and effectively perform the physical requirements of the position in year-round outdoor conditions.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • A self-motivated, dependable, and team-oriented approach to your work.
