You are a proactive, organized and service-oriented Professional Engineer with proven communication skills, who enjoys developing power distribution system solutions in a team environment.

JOB DUTIES

Reporting to the Systems Engineer and with a focus on optimizing systems and the use of technology while streamlining processes, you will:

  • Create and manage short- and long-term distribution system plans, including supply capacity plans, regional plans, and asset sustainment plans.
  • Carry out distribution systems engineering studies, such as load flows, fault analysis, contingency analysis, and system optimization.
  • Track feeder, station and system loads to develop load forecasts and special studies.
  • Contribute to the development of the corporate capital infrastructure budget and corporate policies associated with system planning.
  • Provide technical advice, recommendations and support to other departments.
  • Develop and implement approaches to streamline processes.
  • Liaise with external parties, such as the IESO, Hydro One, developers, contractors, customers, and the City of London.
  • Plan and supervise the work of technology support staff Adhere to all Occupational Health & Safety Act rules and regulations, the E&USA rule book, London Hydro work practices and London Hydro’s Health & Safety Management System. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university, P.Eng. designation and registration with Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience with power distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of the planning, design and operation of high-voltage overhead and underground systems, including substations, protection and control, SCADA, and low-voltage network systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and experience in preparing detailed reports and analyses and delivering presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective cross-functional relationships and resolve conflict at all levels of the organization.
  • Valid Class G driver’s licence.
