ENGINEERING MANAGER

 

InnPower Corporation is the local distribution company serving more than 16,000 customers in the Town of Innisfil and south Barrie, located north of Toronto near the shores of Lake Simcoe. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering and Operations you will be responsible for leadership and management of Design, Planning, Reliability, GIS, System Operations, Protection & Control, and Substations. You will also contribute more broadly towards developing and ensuring that the goals, objectives and strategic plan of the corporation are achieved. 

JOB DUTIES 

With a goal of achieving or surpassing initiatives and targets as established by the corporation, your mandate as the Engineering Manager will focus on: 

  • Support the Vice President, Engineering and Operations, by participating in setting corporate and departmental goals and targets;
  • Ensure InnPower’s Distribution System Plan, regional system plans, long-term asset expansion and sustainment plans, annual resource and business plans, budgets and finances are reasonable, defensible and in alignment with corporate strategy and objectives;
  • Liaise with industry professionals, corporate customers, city/town officials, industry associations, regulators and other agencies as a key management representative of the corporation;
  • Provide decisions and direction on long term and emergency operational and engineering issues;
  • Perform a lead role in the planning and execution of grid modernization and expansion projects; develop internal design standards for construction, and develop product specifications;
  • Prepare engineering, technical or business reports and studies; and provide timely technical support and consultation;
  • Perform analysis, testing and evaluations, and review, develop and/or present business proposals, plans, designs, processes, operational procedures and practices;
  • Demonstrate effective project management and process efficiencies; and administer engineering software;
  • Facilitate the development and enforcement of policies and procedures for the Engineering Department, exercising sound judgment when setting policies that may impact finance, safety, reliability, and customer preference;
  • Develop, promote and encourage innovative solutions through up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and industry trends, and leverage modern systems and tools to develop advanced system engineering solutions;
  • Promote, encourage and ensure the development, professionalism, and the health and safety of the department’s team members;
  • Prepare supporting documentation and rationales for rate applications and other regulatory filings. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

In addition to holding an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, you possess a P.Eng. designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) registration. You offer a minimum of 5 years of progressive, managerial experience. 

This experience is complemented by:

  • Proven leadership ability;
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective cross-functional relationships at all levels of the organization;
  • Demonstrated ability to employ effective conflict resolution;
  • Strong business acumen;
  • Must hold a valid Class "G" drivers license and be insured.
