Powerline Technician/Apprentice Powerline Technician

 

 

We are currently seeking a Powerline Technician/Apprentice Powerline Technician to join our team at Orangeville Hydro Limited. We are currently looking to expand our team with the candidate being responsible for the day to day construction, operation, and maintenance of the electrical distribution system which services our customers within the Town of Orangeville & the Town of Grand Valley. 

While in this position the successful candidate must enroll and work towards the completion of the 434A Powerline Technician certification program by satisfying the hours and training requirements. As their individual skill level improves they will work towards the following objectives: 

  • Perform all line construction and maintenance work in connection with underground and overhead power distribution systems in a safe and efficient manner
  • Be familiar with and use all safe working practices as set out by Orangeville Hydro Ltd.
  • Be able to operate bucket trucks, radial boom derricks, hydraulic equipment and all other equipment and tools used in line construction and maintenance
  • Perform industry standard troubleshooting, service, operating and testing work on Orangeville Hydro Ltd. power distribution network consisting of all voltage levels up to and including 27.6 kV and 44 kV 

Minimum Qualifications for all Applicants: 

  • Grade 12 Secondary School diploma
  • Previous exposure to Electrical Theory will be considered an asset
  • An energetic, motivated individual with a good work ethic and strong oral and written communication skills
  • Possess or be able to obtain a Valid Class DZ Driver’s License with a good driver’s abstract
  • Must be in good health and physically fit for year-round outdoor line work, in all elements
  • Effective communication skills to successfully interact with customers and peers
  • Must demonstrate commitment to the team approach of project management
  • Ability to use sound judgment, is flexible and responsible
  • Must be able to demonstrate focus and attention to detail 

The successful applicant must possess a strong work ethic and a desire to be part of an organization that is team focused and community oriented. 

The successful candidates will live or be willing to relocate within twenty (20) minutes of the Orangeville Hydro office and will be required to perform regular on-call duties as assigned. Candidates will be required to comply and be familiar with Company work practices and standards, operating rules and regulations, as well as all pertinent OHSA regulations.
