Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro Inc. is currently accepting applications for the following position:

 

                                    PROTECTION AND CONTROL TECHNOLOGIST

 

An experienced Protection and Control Technologist is required for our Protection and Control (P&C) Department. Duties will include all aspects of the P&C trade including the installation, operation and maintenance of protection and control systems, SCADA circuits and equipment associated with the transformer and distribution station facilities. 

Applications will be considered from candidates who meet the following minimum qualifications: 

  • Graduate of a three-year Engineering Technology Program preferably in the discipline of Electrical Engineering with Power Systems option, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of related P&C experience in an electric utility or industrial setting, including the successful completion of Hydro One P&C training courses, or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret drawings, sketches and diagrams and to work from verbal and written instructions, specifications, and standards.
  •  Competent in use of personal computers including knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • An excellent health, safety and attendance record.
  • Valid Class 'G' driver's license and a clean driving record. 

Preference will be given to applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and who also have direct experience with electrical transformer station protection and control systems, SCADA, communication systems and have a working knowledge of the Utility Work Protection Code.
