Waterloo North Hydro is a progressive electric distribution utility servicing the City of Waterloo, the Township of Wellesley and the Township of Woolwich. Our impressive team of 112 dedicated employees strives to provide a safe and reliable supply of electricity to 51,000 customers across a large urban and rural service area spanning 672 square km. Our focus is on service excellence from answering telephones to building, maintaining and operating the local power distribution system.
We are inviting applications for a competent team player with a strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of basic electric circuit theory, and a clear interest in all aspects of constructing and maintaining overhead and underground electricity distribution systems. The successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
The successful applicant will start in a four year apprenticeship program. The incumbent will be required to attend the MEARIE (EDA) Powerline Technician training program as scheduled by Waterloo North Hydro Inc. Progression within the classification will depend on satisfactory performance on the job and successful completion of the MEARIE (EDA) Powerline Technician training courses. The incumbent will be assigned to various crews throughout the apprenticeship period and, with training, will be expected to work on and operate high voltage equipment.
