Along with Bracebridge Generation and Lakeland Energy, Lakeland Power is one of the three subsidiaries of Lakeland Holding Ltd. Lakeland Power distributes electricity to more than 13,500 customers in Bracebridge, Burk’s Falls, Huntsville, Magnetawan, Parry Sound and Sundridge. Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist the Materials and Facilities Coordinator with day-to-day duties
• Perform general repairs and preventative maintenance at various buildings and properties throughout LPDL service area including snow removal, yard maintenance, etc.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
• Assist with inventory and organizing of stock
• Assist in ordering parts and materials as necessary
• Deliver material to field crews
• Assist with loading/unloading of materials and equipment
• Perform daily inspections on vehicles, buildings and equipment
• Assist Operations Staff in the field when required
• Follows all Regulations, company safety policies and standard operating procedures
• Completes work orders, time sheets and other reports promptly and accurately
• Able to work well independently

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

• Mechanically/electrically inclined
• Knowledge or willingness to learn about the practices, methods, tools and equipment used in the repair, maintenance and construction of related field
• Must have experience using hand tools, measuring tools and operating equipment
• Must have experience using power tools
• Ability to or willingness to learn to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings and manuals;
• Problem solving skills essential and strong attention to detail;
• Ability to maintain co-operative relations with employees and supervisors;
• Must maintain good knowledge of all Standard Operating Procedures, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Labour Standards Act;
• Must be physically fit, heavy lifting and mobility/flexibility required
• Must be willing to work outside in various weather conditions
• Must have excellent verbal and communication skills

Education, Training and Experience: 

• Grade 12 or equivalent with an aptitude for mechanical/electrical work
• Forklift operator experience
• Must possess and maintain a valid class G drivers’ license with an excellent driving record with ability to obtain DZ within one year of hire
