Wataynikaneyap Power PM Inc., (the “Project Manager”) a wholly owned subsidiary of FortisOntario Inc., acts as the Project Manager of Wataynikaneyap Power LP (“Wataynikaneyap Power”). Wataynikaneyap Power is a licensed transmission entity, majority-owned by a partnership of 24 First Nation communities in partnership with Fortis Inc. and other private investors. The partnership is an unprecedented undertaking and is currently constructing 1,800 kilometres of 230 kV, 115 kV, and 44 kV transmission lines and over 20 substations in northwestern Ontario. Located in our Fort William First Nation, ON office, Wataynikaneyap Power is currently recruiting for a talented:

MANAGER, CONSTRUCTION

(Multi-Year Project Position)

 

Reporting to the Project Director, the Manager of Construction will be responsible for leading and executing the Company’s overall Capital Construction program, working closely with all of the various groups contributing to the Project. The successful candidate will oversee field construction efforts to ensure project is constructed in accordance with the designs, specifications, standards, budget, safety and schedule requirements. The incumbent must ensure all work assigned is performed efficiently, while demonstrating a personal commitment to the safety of co-workers, the public, oneself, and the environment. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering;
  • Master's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering or Business Administration would be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience as an engineer, supervisor or leader in the electric utility industry. Transmission electric system capital project experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of project scheduling and budgeting tools
  • Experience working with IESO, OEB, North American Electric Reliability Corporation (“NERC”) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“FERC”) would be an asset.
  • Must have valid Ontario “G” driver’s license and maintain a clean driver’s abstract
  • Travel will be required for job duties
