Wataynikaneyap Power PM Inc., (the “Project Manager”) a wholly owned subsidiary of FortisOntario Inc., acts as the Project Manager of Wataynikaneyap Power LP (“Wataynikaneyap Power”). Wataynikaneyap Power is a licensed transmission entity, majority-owned by a partnership of 24 First Nation communities in partnership with Fortis Inc. and other private investors. The partnership is an unprecedented undertaking and is currently constructing 1,800 kilometres of 230 kV, 115 kV, and 44 kV transmission lines and over 20 substations in northwestern Ontario. Located in our Fort William First Nation, ON office, Wataynikaneyap Power is currently recruiting for a talented:

TRANSMISSION ENGINEER

(Multi-Year Project Position)

 

This position will report to the Director, Operations & Engineering of Wataynikaneyap Power PM Inc. The incumbent is a professional engineer who has a solid understanding of all aspects of Wataynikaneyap PM’s role as it relates to the EPC activities within the construction of the project. The Transmission Engineer will be responsible for supporting the business objectives and providing engineering expertise through construction of the transmission system. The incumbent must ensure all work assigned is performed efficiently, while demonstrating a personal commitment to the safety of co-workers, the public, oneself, and the environment. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and registered in good standing as a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng), or eligibility to qualify in Ontario
  • 5-7 years transmission lines design experience
  • Up-to-date working knowledge of project management, engineering and construction concepts in the electrical utility industry.
  • Technical expertise in planning, design, construction and/or maintenance of power transmission lines
  • Demonstrate sound judgement, originality, ingenuity, and engineering knowledge of principles for devising practical and economical solutions to engineering problems. Sound judgement and the ability to make difficult decisions, often with competing priorities
  • Must have a valid Ontario “G” driver’s license and maintain a clean driver’s abstract
  • Travel will be required for job duties
