We are looking for an energetic Licensed Mechanic to add to our Operations team to “deliver” timely, high quality repairs and maintenance for our vehicle fleet including ground support equipment which requires preventative maintenance program skills, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications and documentation. The Licensed Mechanic will also be responsible for providing services and supporting the operations of Brantford Power and its shared services partner and tenant Energy+. The position is unionized (IBEW Local 636) and will be reporting to Manager of Warehouse and Facilities or a designate in the interim.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostics, repair and maintenance on vehicles (ex. engine, transmission, air conditioning and electrical issues with the use of computer diagnostics, pressure gauges, etc.).
  • Complete routine preventative maintenance and Safety Inspections.
  • Operate computer inventory system to manage parts and accessories, create purchase orders, and process invoices as required.
  • Work with vendors and service providers to ensure timely delivery of parts and related services.
  • Maintain vehicle logs and fleet MTO licencing.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized Mechanics Bay during the day-to-day operations.
  • Use computer system to create and manage work, order management
  • Perform administrative duties associated with performing mechanics tasks using computer software (i.e. Excel, Word, Fleet management software, etc.).
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Licensed Automotive Service Technician who can skillfully care for a fleet of vehicles ranging in size
  • from cars to large bucket trucks.
  • Certification as a Licensed Truck Technician
  • Certificate of Qualification 310S – Automotive Service Technician
  • Certificate of Qualification 310T – Truck and Coach Technician (Large Trucks)
  • Valid ‘DZ’ Vehicle License in good standing
  • Willing to obtain Canadian Utility Fleet Equipment Mechanic Certification
  • Must have knowledge of Motor Vehicle Safety Inspections
  • Must have knowledge and experience with vehicle electronic, hydraulic, emission control and airbrake systems.
  • Working knowledge of the use and operation of all automotive equipment and testing equipment, gauges and tools normally associated with troubleshooting and repair of gasoline, diesel and/or propane vehicles and/or equipment.
  • Capable, willing and eager to perform small repairs on generators, small support equipment and hydraulic tools.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years fleet, automotive/truck vehicle maintenance experience
  • Detail oriented and have exceptional problem solving, planning, parts management, interpersonal, strong written / verbal communication and computer skills
  • Ability to work without direct supervision for extended periods of time

WAGE RANGE AS PER THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT: $38.28 per hour based on 40 hours
