IT INFRASTRUCTURE AND SECURITY SPECIALIST

 

POSITION AT A GLANCE

We are currently seeking an IT Infrastructure and Security Specialist to join our IT team. Reporting to the Vice President Information Technology and CIO, the IT Infrastructure and Security Specialist is responsible for the overall health and maintenance of all IT infrastructure including telecommunications, telephony, network administration, hardware/software, backup/recovery, and security operations with an additional focus on cyber security administration. This position requires an individual with the agility and capability to manage, prioritize and expedite multiple IT infrastructure work assignments in accordance with scheduled IT service commitments, including coordination with our key Managed Service Providers. The position is required to recommend and implement appropriate security controls to protect the BHI information assets from unauthorized access and compromise/loss and to mitigate cyber related risks. This includes performing regularly scheduled Vulnerability Assessments, recommending, and implementing effective monitoring, establishing control measure baselines for subsequent effectivity assessment, and tracking KPI based cyber security metrics for reporting purposes. The individual is also required to continue the deployment of the Ontario Cyber Security Framework (OCSF), including the authoring of policies and procedures needed to meet the OCSF’s governance requirements. With the rapid-fire changes in infrastructure technology and support, the IT Infrastructure and Security Specialist has the experience and confidence to recommend innovative technologies and effective solutions to address evolving infrastructure challenges, changing demands and the ever-increasing threats of cyber security. 

The IT Infrastructure and Security Specialist has excellent communication and customer relation skills, fostering cooperation and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, end-users, and key Managed Service Providers.   The successful candidate has demonstrative experience with IT governance structures and operations documentation with a focus on cyber security administration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Supports the CIO in the creation and execution of roadmaps outlining the investments in infrastructure (with a focus on cyber security) that will enable the Company’s strategic plans and deliver high availability IT resources
  • Participates in the design, procurement, installation, and maintenance all IT infrastructure including servers, PC/laptops, network components and related configurations, telecommunications equipment, telephony, mobility, email, operations related software, backup/recovery systems and license compliance with a focus on cyber security
  • Directs, prioritizes, and expedites multiple work assignments in accordance with scheduled IT service commitments
  • Participates in hardware and software upgrades in alignment with Vulnerability and Patch Management best practices  
  • May be required to develop and facilitate training to lead one or more operation support team members
  • Effectively engages in IT infrastructure support in compliance with information security best practices
  • Administers corporate user profiles/accounts and their access permissions in alignment with Identity Access Management best practices
  • Results-oriented with a strong sense of accountability and ownership, achieving goals that meet set deadlines and are on-budget
  • Remains current with relevant advancements in technology with a focus on cyber security
  • Remains current with relevant technology advancements, cyber security toolsets and recommends new technologies and best practice solutions (cloud, remote managed services, digital transformation)
  • Assists in the development, implementation, maintenance and management of the Corporate Disaster Recovery Program as well as Incident Response Planning and all related remote processing capabilities
  • Directs the Corporate Cyber Security Program and makes effective recommendations to the CIO in alignment with the OCSF
  • Acts as a trusted business partner and collaborative colleague with peers and leaders, focused on influencing change and delivering solutions
  • Assist in the development of the operating and capital budget and ensure the department operates within the approved budget 

QUALIFICATIONS  

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Post-Secondary Degree with a focus in Advanced Network Management and Cyber Security Management
  • Minimum 5 years of experience. Experienced Graduates from a directly related field will be considered
  • Certification preferred: CISSP, CISM, CCNP Security
  • Demonstrated record of leadership, team building and organizational skills
  • Proven advanced troubleshooting, problem solving and analytical skills for timely resolution of complex infrastructure events and assignments with special attention to cyber security
  • Advanced organization and technical skills to support independent management and timely completion of work plan assignments and priorities
  • Advanced knowledge of cyber security administration and concepts, operating systems, virtual machines, mail filters, firewalls, network administration, vulnerability and patch management, release upgrade management, information security management systems including intrusion prevention and detection toolsets, VPN communications, telecommunications, active directory management based on Principle of Least Privilege, group policy design and configuration, cloud and hosting related technology solutions, computer resource availability management and desktop technical support
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity Planning, Incident Response Management
