Marketing & Communications Assistant

Job Summary

Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Coordinator, the Marketing & Communications Assistant will be responsible for supporting the marketing and communications activities of The MEARIE Group. This includes but is not limited to supporting the creation and distribution of communications, marketing materials (digital and print) and contributing to the department's development and growth. 

The candidate must have a good knowledge of marketing communications and social media management, as well as excellent customers service skills as this position entails developing and building relationships with internal clients/stakeholders while carrying out other administrative duties. 

Unit Mandate

The incumbent will be part of the Corporate Affairs department, which is responsible for governance, company branding, marketing, communications, business, and product development support, etc. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports the management of the corporate website, social media channels and CRM (customer database)
  • Supports the creation and distribution of internal and external MEARIE communications
  • Supports the creation of effective marketing plans and strategic options for advertising
  • Supports the creation of reports, presentations, briefs, and press materials, as required
  • Provides support to planning and execution of events
  • Assists the Marketing & Communications Coordinator with any responsibilities deemed necessary
  • Provides administrative support to other departments, as required 


  • Degree/diploma in Marketing / Communications or related field
  • 1-2+ years marketing communications experience
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with social media platforms and digital marketing
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience working with website content management systems, CRMs, and email marketing systems
  • Experience in graphic/web design and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is an asset.
  • Copywriting skills are an asset.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Possess a combination of creative and analytical thinking and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
