Entegrus Powerlines, a progressive company dedicated to providing the highest level of service and a positive work environment, requires a Line Sub-Foreman for its Chatham location. Reporting to the Line Supervisor - Chatham, this position is responsible for providing field supervision over crews involved in installation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electric distribution lines and related equipment, while ensuring workers comply with all safety regulations. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, organize and designate individual responsibilities of the work crew (may be tested);
  • Supervise, train and instruct operations staff in all aspects of the electrical distribution system;
  • Demonstrate safe working habits and ensure crews are following proper safety regulations (may be tested);
  • Read and interpret distribution system construction drawings and prepare paperwork as required (may be tested);
  • Must have a high priority on customer service with a focus on teamwork and co-operation;
  • Service duty (24 hour on call) on a rotational basis;
  • Perform all the duties of a Power Line Maintainer (may be tested);
  • Plan and execute capital and maintenance projects, including the assembly of material/equipment (may be tested);
  • Coordinate crew activities with other departments, contractors and customers;
  • Assist in the engineering of small maintenance jobs, including the use of Quadra for estimation (may be tested);
  • Prepare administrative documents, including but not limited to: time sheets, construction and maintenance work order documents, recoverable work order documents.       Complete and sign all pertinent documents related to the construction verification requirements of Regulation 22/04; and,
  • Other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Powerline Technician Certificate (JP) from the Ontario College of Trades (Power Lineman) plus Red Seal (or equivalent)
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in the lines trade.       Demonstrated leadership experience through experiences at, or away from, work.
  • Knowledge: Demonstrable and up to date knowledge of all applicable laws and regulations, including Health & Safety regulations and policies such as E&USA Safety Rules, Occupational Health &Safety Act, ESA Ontario Reg. 22/04, Utility Work Protection Code, WHIMIS, CPR, First Aid and all other applicable legislation (may be tested).
  • Skills: Must possess superior skills in the construction, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the electrical distribution system (may be tested).       Must have strong organizational and interacting skills including demonstrable written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills (may be tested). Requires mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform physically demanding work over extended periods.
  • Other: Requires attention to detail when preparing reports. Ability to shift focus quickly in response to emergencies or other priorities in the workplace and maintaining focus on multiple tasks with varying priorities. Must possess and maintain a valid Class DZ Driver’s License. Must be physically able and willing to perform all tasks associated with work in all outdoor elements. 

This position is a full-time union position with compensation based on the IBEW Collective Agreement. Current hours of work are from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. The successful applicant must be able and willing to be on call on a rotational basis throughout the year and work overtime. This includes the ability to respond to calls within 15 minutes of the receipt of the call and be at the scene of the call within 60 minutes from the receipt of the call.
