Apprentice Powerline Technician

We are seeking a qualified Apprentice Powerline Technician with excellent communication skills, a collaborative attitude and a strong commitment to safety to join our Operations team. Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution systems. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Installation, repair and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical power lines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Troubleshooting, repair and restoration of system outages.
  • Maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Work as a team member and be able to communicate effectively with team members as required for overhead and underground work.
  • Must demonstrate an exceptional level of customer service and professionalism at all times.
  • Perform essential duties of the position including regular standby duties and the availability to respond and be present on site within thirty (30) minutes of receiving notification of a problem. (once added to the on call roster)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Be a member of the Colleges of Trades in good standing
  • A valid “DZ” driver’s licence in good standing; “AZR” driver’s license is an asset and must be acquired within 6 months.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and association regulations, IHSA’s Electrical Utility Safety Rules (EUSR), Utility Work Protection Code (UWPC) and safe work procedures are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform all job tasks in all weather conditions. 

Wage:

As per the IBEW Collective Agreement as of October 31, 2021 Ranges from $22.57 - $40.62
