Job Title:  AMI Operator (Automated Metering Infrastructure)

Position Summary: This position is responsible for meeting the requirements of the provincial   smart metering initiative by ensuring all network devices that report on customer usage at regular intervals. This includes monitoring the automated metering infrastructure through acquisition reporting, network reporting, MDMR/ODS reporting and billing requirements; remotely interrogating the devices and/or issuing service order investigations when any of the components do not appear to be running properly.

Key Duties:

  • Work within company values and policy at all times
  • Monitor and maintain multiple systems that are part of the AMI
  • Respond to issues generated by other MH staff members that are related to AMI
  • Provide direction to multiple departments on work that is required based on AMI issues and requirements
  • Act as first point of contact for AMI/AMCC issues
  • Manage multiple propriety system product lines, including but not all MV90 and UnitySuite
  • Monitor and maintain data integrity; including trend, pattern, reporting analysis
  • Work with multiple vendors to keep all components up to date as well as report issues that come up
  • Understand business processes and data needs to meet expected customer service level achievements
  • Evaluate, interpret and compile pertinent data in a clear concise manner
  • Investigate High bill complaints
  • Advise supervisor of opportunities to improve business and to warn supervisor of weaknesses within business processes 

Skills/Knowledge/Experience Required:

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, judgement and decision-making skills
  • Programming and scripting experience (to automate business process and analysis) ie. VBScript, C#, .NET, ASP, PHP and HTML
  • Smart metering and AMI technologies
  • SQL (Oracle 10/11g)
  • Unix/Window Operating Systems
  • Proficient with MV90,Trilliant AMCC and Honeywell AMCC
  • Proficient standard Microsoft office
  • Technical knowledge of billing systems i.e., Northstar would be an asset
  • Strong project management, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Education: Community college diploma (Computer science or related IT diploma)
